ECORYS Research Programme

ECORYS carries out important work with the aim of delivering real benefit to society. The ECORYS Research Programme helps explore emerging policy issues in depth and to develop new ideas, approaches and methodologies. It is funded by ECORYS and the Foundation NEI. Some projects are also partly funded from external research funds and clients who have a special interest in particular topics.

The themes for the ECORYS Research Programme are identified annually by ECORYS in consultation with the Foundation NEI (Netherlands Economic Institute). Individual project proposals are submitted and selected by a research committee with representation from ECORYS, the Foundation NEI and independent advisors. Proposals are also ‘peer reviewed’ by external academics or specialists to ensure their quality.

Profiling the Turkish Woman Entrepreneur

Under 2010 ECORYS Research Prgramme, ECORYS Turkey will carry out a research project entitled “Profiling the Turkish Woman Entrepreneur” with the aim to profile women entrepreneurs active in the formal sector in Turkey and to propose policy measures appropriate for different profiles of women entrepreneurs.

Research into profiling women entrepreneurship in Turkey has not been done of the scale and scope that this study would come with. Hence, this research will form a sound basis for the very first study profiling women entrepreneurs in Turkey. The comparative nature of the study will be ensured by adapting an approach applied already by the Eurochambers in 25 EU member states in 2004.

The research team is quite extended, comprising the staff of ECORYS Turkey, ECORYS International, academicians from METU and University of Stirling as well as women's councils of TESK (The Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen) and TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges in Turkey).
